Twenty five years later, that status stands to be revoked. Between 2000-2019, only 3,873 cases of measles were reported in the US, 1,798 had been reported as of November 25th in 2025 alone. On November 10th, the Canadian Public Health agency made the announcement that Canada’s elimination status was officially revoked, 27 years after it was declared eliminated in the country. The US will soon follow.
